4H is a politically and religiously independent, international organization for children and adolescents. 4H started in Springfield, Ohio in 1902 and is currently available in 80 countries. In Sweden there are over 40 4H-farms and a large number of 4H clubs. In 4H you do everything from going to camp, fish, bake, play football or theater to play games together and learn about animals and nature. The organisation are made by children and youngsters and it is for children and youngsters.
4H's vision is that all children and young people will evolve into committed and responsible people with respect to the world. This vision will be achieved by interacting with people and nature to discover their rich values and diversity. In this, each species and individual an important part of the big picture without being worth more than any other. The motto of 4H-organization works is "Learning by doing". 4H is built around practical learning, where the theory becomes a tool for practical action.
The Växjö 4H-gård conducts activities with a focus on children and animals according to the national guidelines, purpose and goals that exist. On the farm there are rabbits, cats, chickens, horses, sheep, goats and pigs. We breed the extinct breeds like the Melleruds rabbit and the Göinge goat, as well as the Swedish agricultural races such as Hedemora hens and Gute sheeps. We also own a Swedish working horse (Nordsvensk) and a Gotland pony (Gotlandsruss) who are also Swedish agricultural races. On the 4H-farms there is the possibility to ride, grow plants, composting, cuddle rabbits or other animals.

We offer course activities all year round for children and young people such as:
- Stud groomer course. (Hästskötarkurs)
- Youth leader course
- Animal care taker course (Djurskötarkurs)
- Rabbit course for young children

We also have weekly After school activities each Friday were we together with the kids take care of the animals or watch movies. We also have targeted activities for children and young people with, for example, neuro-psychiatric and physical disabilities. We have also run projects aimed at asylum seekers and newly arrived children and young people. Växjö 4H-gård is open to the public 365 days a year. Växjö 4H-farm act as the base for the Kronoberg County 4H Association that is a unifying organization for the clubs in the county. Kronobergs 4H works to support existing clubs, start new ones and conduct activities in the county according to national purposes, guidelines and goals.

The 4 x H stands for:

Head - knowledge
A committed person dares to question and take a stand, this through education in conjunction democracy according to our first H (Head - knowledge). The head is the first of the four H and is the symbol for knowledge. First and foremost, we want to promote interest in active learning throughout life. It shall be achieved by having an interesting and inspiring ways of learning.

Heart - compassion
With accountability we mean a person who is responsible for their actions and that does not make them for personal gain. He puts in other words, the group first. In the group of respected every individual regardless of gender, social or cultural background. Compassion for all people is something that is important to have with you in life. Equally important is also the compassion and respect for animals and nature.

Hand - practical skills
4H's motto is "Learning by doing". By making learning fun and practical 4H arouse curiosity to seek more knowledge from the head H. The practical tasks is also a way to a way for the children and you to develop accountability and responsibility.
Health - a healthy way of life

With health H is the idea that we should all live healthily and naturally. For 4H is a healthy way of life to keep body and brain with healthy food, sport, play and stay in the forest. The brain is kept going by that you always have a socializing and participating in various learning activities for all the senses.

All 4H farms should work to:
- To give co-influence and responsibility through democratic organizational and working methods in the organisation
- Broaden and deepen the individual's personality development,
- Work for increased compassionate understanding and contact between the generations,
- Work for international cooperation and understanding of different people's culture and create contact with similar organizations in other countries
- To organize active leisure activities and stimulate interest in cultural activities.
- To spread knowledge about and understanding of the countryside and its industries
- To develop activities around agriculture, forestry and independent householding
- To develop activities around nature and environmental conservation and thereby create an understanding of
the interaction in nature.
