Association of Friends of Youth Ajdovščina is a voluntary, philanthropic, non-profit and non-governmental organization focused on providing activities for children and youth and addressing social issues in the local community. The organization has nearly 70 years of experience with youth work and is a part of Slovenian Association of friends of youth (SAFY) network, which consists of 112 community associations and municipal associations of friends of youth. We have established strong working connections with organizations within the SAFY network, schools in our community and other related organizations.
The work in our association is based on the principles of the Convention on the rights of the child, our mission is to raise the quality of life and to promote positive life values among children, youth and families. We strive to meet their needs and interests and to protect their rights all year round. Our objective is to ensure equal possibilities for all children, youth and families, to promote and enable voluntary work in the community and nurture friendly interpersonal relations on all levels of our work.
Association of Friends of Youth Ajdovščina carries out various programmes and activities such as Children's parliament, Reading badge promotion, Day of families (15th May), Excursions and holiday activities, Study circles for adults, The Week of the child, Meetings with families in need, Merry December activities, Theatre shows, Europe in school competition, Projects and education activities for volunteers, Promotion of voluntary service in the local community, cooperation with organizations and associations with similar programs, humanitarian activities (A wink to the sun, Tom telephone, Sponsorship), etc.
Our programmes basic characteristic is non-profit, most of our activities are provided for free. We strive to cover all the expenses with donations and gained funds. Our goal is to offer free and easily accessible activities, courses, summer camps, and other activities for all children, adolescents, and families, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We also have a wide base of volunteers who engage in children and youth activities and are dedicated to improving our community.
