Descripción de la organización:

VIA is a recognized youth organisation in Belgium. VIA organises exchanges with the focus on voluntary work and intercultural learning. VIA is the Flemish branch of SCI (Service Civil International). VIA is a pluralistic organisation which gives people from different social, religious and cultural backgrounds the opportunity to live and work together. All programs are open to all youth: regardless of gender, cultural or social background, nationality and religion. VIA considers itself as a peace organisation: through voluntary work and international solidarity we believe we can contribute to peace and understanding in the world. VIA believes that all people are capable of living and working together with mutual respect and without recourse to any form of violence to solve conflicts. The programs are based on the principle of volunteering as a means to become responsible, active and global citizens and, as such, to work for social exchange.To realise the aim of promoting peace and intercultural learning through voluntary work, we organise short term exchanges (work camps) and long term exchanges (individual work in a project –EVS). We prepare and send Flemish volunteers abroad (yearly about 50 short term and 6 long term) and receive international volunteers (yearly about120) on our work camps.
