Shokkin Group is a youth organization composed of young people 16-30 years of age, based in or connected to Estonia. The organization was founded in October 2011 in Tallinn, with the main aim of empowering young people of Estonia to live a pro-active lifestyle by providing them with opportunities to develop competencies for personal, professional and social growth. The organization works closely with young people coming from the Russian-speaking background but also including young people with Estonian being their first language. By these activities we are working to unite young people of Estonia regardless of their nationality, religion, race or any other possible characteristic.
Our motto is imagine, inspire, act! And it describes the whole idea of our organization in the best possible way. We hope that modern youth will imagine, be inspired and inspire others to act for a stronger society! The organization consists of 4 youth leaders and professional youth workers forming the board of the organization and 12 members forming squads, which are thematic task forces of Shokkin Group who are working on various organizational directions. The organizations also consists of more than 90 members from all around Estonia. Since 2011 Shokkin Group is closely working with the Youth Department of Tallinn & with Tallinn Central Youth Centre implementing various local projects and events such as Shokkin Kamp, Teeme Ära, Kids Got Moves, Graffiti Festival, Christmas Miracle and many more. Since 2013 Shokkin Group has been actively involved in the YIA programme and built a reliable and pleasant network of local and international partners, with whom we have developed projects connected to youth entrepreneurship, urban arts, urban and rural development, outdoor education, non-formal learning methodology and many other topics, with a few projects being mentioned as good practices by various National Agencies.
Since 2015 we hold an accreditation for hosting, sending and coordinating EVS projects, which allows us to involve our partners and participants in the long-term activities. Shokkin Group also has experience working with transnational youth initiatives and long-term local activities with international partners. We believe in Erasmus+ and the change it is bringing into youth work and for youth of Europe, that is why we are passionate promoters of the programme. Shokkin Group Estonia is a member of the Shokkin Group International network. This means that we follow the codes of conduct, quality and ethical standards developed and agreed by the international board of the network. The standards ensure quality preparation, implementation and evaluation of activities connected to international projects.
