The University of Salamanca is considered the third Spanish public university in Teaching and Learning, according to the ranking of the CYD Foundation and has great national and international projection. We are the second Spanish university with the highest percentage of foreign students. Every year receive more than 7000 students from all continents.
The University of Salamanca is among the best universities in the world in the ranking on compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals, Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2020.
The university is made up of 9 teaching campuses located in Ávila, Zamora, Béjar y Salamanca. Therefore, it is caracterised by its widely dispersed geography. The European Solidarity Corps at the University is managed by its Social Affairs Department, which serves all of them.
The Office of Social Affairs is an area of Salamanca University that functions under the direct supervision of the Vicechancellor of Health Sciences and Social Affairs. The Department is responsible for two interrelated áreas:
- On the one hand, it aims at addressing the needs of information, guidance and support that members of the university community may require, so as to ensure equal opportunities and contribute to the improvement of personal and social well-being. So that we strive to create a place environment that values integrity, diversity and the personal development.
- On the other hand, it seeks to promote the responsible commitment of students to society and their active involvement in the defence and the fight for diversity and human rights.
Under a single management system and with the support of a management specialist, the SAS is structured in: Units of Social Support, Inclusion and Support for Disability, Psychological and Psychiatric Care, Promotion of Health and Well-being, Affective sexual diversity and gender identity, Service – Learning, Participation and Volunteering, and Development Cooperation.
So, we provides support to the university community but it is also open to the involvement of society in general.
It provides information and guidance on both the resources and services of the institution itself, and on those offered by other organizations and entities. Attention is also given to any social situation or problem in which a member of the university community may need advice, or when technical and professional intervention is required.
Regarding Volunteering and Cooperation, the Social Affairs Office promotes and disseminates solidarity initiatives among members of the university community, searches for information and informs users on the possibilities of involvement in projects and volunteer activities. Training, support and monitoring are provided and the conditions needed to participate in the solidarity projects carried out are assured.
The Department holds cooperation agreements on participation and volunteering with more than 60 social organizations in the area.
