descripción de la organización:

Rapatac is a concept that give children and young people good conditions for a safe and meaningful upbringing by offering them help with school work, the opportunity for stimulating leisure activities and to develop their ability to take responsibility for their actions. An important part of this concept is that the children and young people are surrounded by adults who are good role models and emphasize the importance of each individual in an active community to strengthen the belief in their individual abilities.

Rapatac started when the founder of the organization noticed that many children from socio-economically disadvantaged areas did not come to their right in school. He saw exclusion and children who lost their knowledge development. Children he met did not understand why the school existed, in parallel to the parents not understanding the child's problems. Too often the truth was unclear and too few adults dared to challenge the difficulties that existed. But the children did not lack ambitions, and not Rapatac's founder either - with a strong conviction that everyone has the ability to take control and influence their situation - Rapatac developed. Rapatac strives to ensure that all children participating in Rapatac's activities reach the school's knowledge requirements and have an enriching and inspiring leisure time throughout their upbringing.

Rapatac works, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, with a humanistic value base where everyone, regardless of background, has the same rights, obligations and opportunities. All children and young people must have the right to develop regardless of ethnic or social affiliation.

The word Rapatac means community/people getting together, in the west african language wolof, and that is what the organization is, Rapatac exists for the people, and work for a pleasurable learning where every individual is evolved to reach their full potential. Rapatac uses attractive activities and environments as a tool to focus on learning, both in the childrens free-time and after school. Our goal is that every individual who participates in Rapatac's activities should feel that their school work is facilitated and that they have the opportunity to develop within different, meaningful and enjoyable activities.

Rapatac's primary target group is children and youth aged 6-18 years. Our secondary target group is the children's families, people in the child's vicinity. Rapatac works to be the gear between the child's school, home and free-time.

Within Rapatac, a number of activities are run based on Rapatac's concept and vision. Each activity is designed to be able to contribute to the unique whole that Rapatac is. The activities complement each other in order to provide a varied and active support for children and young people in their development. In one day, Activity Center Nordost in Gävle is visited by up to 100 participating children. At the center there are also activities to support parents, and collaboration with associations and organizations. It offers activities within culture and media, technology, music and singing, sports and health, etc., all combined with participation in school-support and reading. Activitycenter Sandviken, which is being built at the time of writing this text, and that opens this fall, will be larger and able to receive up to 300 children and young people per day.

Rapatac has a well-established contact with civil society. In Rapatac's position as an organization, we have great opportunities to support children, young people and their families in their everyday lives, and be able to act as a contact link with a holistic view of the children 's entire day.
