Élményakadémia was founded in 2005 by 12 young volunteers, who - based on their personal experiences - believed that non-formal education is an essential tool for the development of youth. In 2019 we have 3 employees working in our office in full-time and part-time job, 15 trainers, 16 trainer assistants and 12 volunteers support our daily work with operative and non-formal education tasks. We have ca. 300 trainer days a year (summer camps, school excursions, international training courses, organizational development - team building, coaching, team coaching - processes) and over 800 participants yearly - 70% disadvantaged youth. To ensure the quality of our programs we have a strong learning community of 15 trainers mostly certified by the international Outward Bound organization, our members are psychologists, economists, coaches, social workers, sociologists and university students or young people with fewer opportunities who just left their foster house.
The objective of the organization is to provide opportunities for youth through various non-formal educational activities to develop their social and personal skills, resulting in altered attitudes and behavior. To reach this, uniquely in Hungary, the organisation is focusing mainly on outdoor activities supported by diverse methodologies. Such as experiential education, non-violent communication, solution focused approach, coaching, mentoring, dance, theater, music techniques, meditation, neuro linguistic programming. Our main thematic focuses are: personal and social participation of youth, inclusion. We foresee to reach them by running experience based non-formal educational activities resulting in the development of transversal competences.
