The Werkstatt für behinderte Menschen (WfbM) (Workshop for Disabled People) is a part of the Integrationswerkstätten Oberschwaben GmbH (IWO). It offers very good integration and support of people with mental (mind), physical (body) and severe multiple disabilities. The institution offers varied and challenging group work opportunities and individual care and therapy activities. These are structured daily. The structure of the facilities is very good and there is disabled-friendly work equipment. Our disabled workers receive many benefits, for example: the participation in work and community life, rehabilitation, personal and employment development, self-determination and independence. We are members of the German Paritätischen Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Association). We are also a certified employment place for people in the civilian service (community service) and Voluntary Social Year (FSJ).Employment Department & Areas of WorkPhysically, mentally or severely disabled people can find meaningful work in our workshop. We think about our workers’ individual disabilities, personal abilities and interests. This helps them participate in working life inside and outside of our workshop. The purpose of our work is, where possible, to find a placement for disabled people on the regular job market.Work and personal qualification, and the conservation and development of physical abilities are very important in our work. So, we offer various educational, therapeutic and support activities. We have current buildings and technical equipment. This offers our disabled workers various areas of work and interesting ways to earn money.Work is an important purpose of life. This is why we offer over 400 job spaces for people with disabilities at our Workshop for Disabled People (WfbM).Department for Employment TrainingNew disabled co-workers do special training in the first two years. At this time, the workers can try out their skills and interests. They can also develop their entire personality. The workers are prepared for a work placement though: individual education plans, and varied help and qualification activities that are useful for education and life. This can be either in the workshop or on the common employment market. There are many trainee spaces (called ‘praktika’) in and outside of our workshop during the two years. They offer orientation and important knowledge for our disabled workers and our education specialists.Employment and rehabilitation develop self-confidence. They also provide a feeling of being an equal part of our workshop community.
