FYRC is a youth organisation. It has its own purpose built youth centre in the heart of the community in Finglas.FYRC target group, range from 10-24 years of age. The staff are fully trained professional youth workers and the organisation is run by a voluntary board of Management. Finglas would be considered a disadvantaged area. The community has social problems associated with most working class areas. FYRC plan programmes to meet the needs of the young people whom attend and also outreach to others whom don't want to attend the centre. The mission of FYRC is: "The Finglas Youth Resource Centre strives to empower young people by providing them with opportunities to learn and grow and become positive citizens in their own community". FYRC deliver evidence based youth work, with the support of volunteers and student placements. The activities and programmes are fun, learning, support and progression for young people. FYRC network with other stakeholders in the community in responding to the needs of young people at risk. The membership of the young people is increasing continuously and their participation is completely voluntary. FYRC always tries to keep abreast of what is happening in the community. In 2014, FYRC, undertook a needs analysis of 162 of its service users and a range of issues affecting young people was identified, allowing FYRC to respond in an effective and timely manner. This enables FYRC to stay at the forefront of issues affecting the young people in the community, enabling them to continue to work in a partnership approach, which is clearly based in the personal development and critical social education models of youth work. FYRC, always starts with the end in mind when seeking outcomes for the benefit of the young people concerned. FYRC, plan and practice to a very high standard in line with National Quality Standards Framework. FYRC, will advocate on behalf of young people and challenge them as and when required.
