Description of organisation

Student, Youth and Children Centre ŠMOCL takes care of conditions for participation, socialising and other activities of young individuals, which are our main target group. We possess adequate youth infrastructure, and we can provide appropriate facilities and equipment for youth work, where children from primary schools can spend their extra free time. They can participate in various workshops, interactive games, and projects that include animation, education, and practical application in photography, lighting, audio, and video production.

Our centre provides three main spaces, available to kindergarten children and primary school children (Children Center Kino). Another is for teenagers in secondary school and students, and the third is our multimedia centre TV Laško (MMC TV Laško).

The ŠMOCL association strives to enrich the lives of young people by promoting cultural creativity and the development of their potentials and abilities through the realisation of their own ideas and projects. Furthermore, due to our center location, which is near the Elementary school Primož Trubar Laško, we are able to implement quality daily activities for children and facilitate extra-curricular activities for teenagers.
In addition to children's and youth activities in Children Center Kino, we can not forget the integration of cultural associations, groups, and individuals active in amateur cultural activities.
Our multimedia centre TV Laško produces electronic media products in municipality Laško. TV Laško was established in 2011 and provides viewers with daily information and cultural happenings and event reports in our area. Besides the youth, our target groups are locals in Laško and Savinjska region.

The municipality of Laško is one of the largest municipalities in Slovenia. Therefore, we have the challenge to cover many events weekly in the city and surrounding areas. Besides the places intended for socialising, ŠMOCL provides the possibility of the use of music rooms, rehearsal hall for choirs, use of internet and HD television with full subscription package, playing table tennis, and table football. In addition, one can use the computer, audio and video production equipment, photocopying, assistance, and advice for associations and help implement and promote the events.

We constantly cooperate and organise cultural and artistic events in the municipality (alternative concerts, exhibitions, festivals, etc.).
By providing different programs and opportunities we encourage young people to acquire competencies for independent living to contribute to their independence.

We try to enrich the lives of young people by promoting cultural creativity and developing their potentials through the realisation of their ideas and projects. We also work with many associations, and our mission is to raise the cultural awareness of children and adults. Volunteers of the European Solidarity Corps actively cooperates with various local organisations and us. It is a way of establishing long-term friendships, valuable connections, and gaining competencies that are essential in the process of lifelong learning. We support our volunteers to implement their projects. We offer them help and all the necessary sources to achieve the mission. Usually, they decide for the project on multimedia, culture, ICT, youth, children (e.g. designing board games, workshops, their puppet show).

Our mission and vision are to raise the young people's awareness to be independent, creative, and curious. Moreover, we foster their active participation in voluntary work and make them aware of their rights, duties and possibilities. Our centre is an excellent opportunity to experience rich informal learning, leisure activities and to get information about employment and European opportunities.
