YFU Norway is an independent not-for-profit, not-party-political youth organisation, which has existed since 1967. YFU exist in order to foster intercultural understanding based on mutual respect and appreciation of cultural diversity at local, national and global level. YFU Norway further aim to promote social responsibility and active citizenship, life-long learning and a more peaceful world. The organisation primarily seeks to reach these aims through intercultural exchanges for young people and in relation to those a) preparation, training and on-going support to young exchange students and their host families b) training of the members of the organisation c) issuing scholarships and applications for economic support in order to make the programs accessible to all young people. d) strengthen the community among the participants in the activities and e) cooperate with organisations and individuals, who work with the same purpose. The vision of Youth For Understanding (YFU) is “Generations of empowered global citizens for a more peaceful and sustainable world.” To contribute to this long-term goal, “YFU’s mission is to advance intercultural understanding and lifelong learning, as well as the development of global competencies, mutual respect and social responsibility through transformational educational exchanges for generations of youth, families and communities.”
