Spoločenstvo evanjelickej mládeže (Fellowship of Lutheran Youth) is a national NGO working with young people all over Slovakia. It involves about 4870 young people in 148 local organisations in towns and villages. Our central goal is to help young people and lead them to practical Christian life. By the means of personal example we try to lead them into self acceptance, unselfish perception of their environment, helping not only their community and to meaningful spending of their free time.Our basic goal is the education and guiding of young people in purposeful activities and helping them in the process of adolescence and maturing. We pursue this goal by education which is aimed at encouraging spiritual and moral values in order to develop grown up personalities able to live purposefully, freely and to make responsible decisions.Our target group is youth at the age of 14 – 30 years. In order to achieve our goal we support regular meetings of children, teenagers and young adults on local level – in towns and villages. We organize educational programmes, offer personal guidance and counselling and stimulate leisure time and welfare activities in local organisations. We also organize regional and national events. During 20 years of existence we have organised hundreds of concerts, sport events, educational and other activities.Our organisation carries out its activities with help of more than 400 volunteers, 4 full-time workers and 6 part-time workers.Tasks and responsibilities of volunteers will be realized at various levels. They will be directly involved in local, regional and also national activities. On each level they will focus on activities with children, teenagers and young adultsOur most distinguished projects are: SEMFEST (1200 participants) – national open air festival where we create space for young people and their self-realization;Sport competition SEM OLYMPICS (1000 participants) - team sport competitions of taking place in various regions of Slovakia ending in national competition of youth teams;SEM CONFERENCE (200 participants) – educational and motivating event for leaders of local FLY groups as well as for active volunteers;Educational module DOKONALI V KRISTU (DVK) – intensive annual schooling for active volunteers concentrating on their motivation, personal and voluntary development in their youth work;HELPING HAND – project helping local and regional youth groups and their work through outdoor activities – water football, human kicker, rope activities, etc. which are used to integrate young people who are not members into regular meetings.
