Betania Senec is an organization founded by the Deacon Association Betania and the Church of Brethren in Slovakia since 2003. It is a non-profit organization and it provides the welfare service, especially the social support. Betania Senec n.o. executes its activity through the center that is a shelter and home of social services for the mentally handicapped adults (the middle form of the disability). The capacity of the center is all year accommodation for 12 persons and daily stay for 6 persons. The center serves as sheltered workshops. The pleasant environment of the center makes Betania the place with a family oriented atmosphere. The main purpose of this center is to bring a new alternative into the life of the handicapped people while respecting their specific characteristics and allowing them to decide independently and to participate actively in the life around them – the inhabitants take part in the internal shelter workshops. They fabricate tasteful products with decorative and utility character (the residents are supervised by the professional instructors). The center also focuses on the adequate education of the clients and on the development of their mental skills. This is provided with comprehensive care in a pleasant atmosphere by the professional staff who guide the clients. The center is located in a very attractive area – at the lakes Slnečné jazerá (“Sunny Lakes”). This position enables to provide its activity for the public by the additional services such as recreational stays, trainings and accommodation services. This service is completely provided by the handicapped people and it enables them to integrate into everyday life.
