Kalvarija gymnasium is the biggest educational institution within the municipality in terms of both staff and students number. There are 740 students aged 6-19 and 72 teachers in total. This school aims at providing education of highest quality so that students can meet their individual learning needs and become independent learners who are able to develop their skills in order to become active citizens in their social, economic and cultural spheres of life. In terms of students’ profile, one fourth of our students live in rural areas of the municipality some of them tend to be exposed to disadvantaged environment, for instance, high rate of poverty, unemployment combined with unhealthy lifestyle habits in their nuclear families.
