Gantalcalá is a non-profit organization of European dimension, which is registered in Spain and is represented in two different capital cities: Logroño and Seville. The main mission is to contribute to the development of a participatory, tolerant and supportive society, through education, culture and social inclusion. In order to achieve these objectives, Gantalcalá carries out a wide variety of activities, which are divided into six different programs according to their specific theme or characteristics

P1: EDUCATION AND LEARNING MOBILITY

Gantalcalá offers the opportunity to participate in short and long-term transnational mobility activities, such as cultural exchanges, language courses, professional internships, etc., to different sectors of the population (youth, adults and seniors).

Specifically, the entity works within the framework of the European programs Erasmus+ 2014- 2020 and 2021- 2027. Among the activities carried out by the entity, there are mobilities such as youth exchanges, training courses or seminars with an european approach. The activities are planned and implemented according to each target group (young people, youth workers, social entities, etc.), so it suits their specific needs

P2: MULTILINGUALISM AND INTERCULTURAL LEARNING

Gantalcalá organizes throughout the year different educational and leisure activities in order to promote, among different sectors of the population, the development of communication skills in foreign languages and a deeper understanding of other cultures. Therefore, the target group are people or entities, which are interested in improving their language skills (especially in English) and their sense of interculturality through non-formal education methodologies.

P3: CREATIVITY AND SOCIAL INITIATIVE

In the “Creativity and Social Initiative'' program, Gantalcalá offers advice and technical/administrative support to any person or entity that, being interested in carrying out a social project, does not have the time, knowledge and/or resources needed to implement it. Gantalcala´s team has extensive experience in the design, management and evaluation of social projects and therefore, the entity accompanies promoters of social projects during all phases, providing technical support, while safeguarding at all times the visibility of the real promoters of the idea.

P4: PARTICIPATION AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP

Gantalcalá carries out different educational and leisure activities aimed at promoting and facilitating the active participation of different sectors of society (young people, adults and senior citizens). This mission turns into a reachable objective through the “Participation and active citizenship” program. Specifically, the activities developed by Gantalcalá in this field range from the reinforcement of participatory democracy at the local level to the well-functioning of the European Institutions. The promotion of a structured dialogue between citizens and decision-makers represents a cross-cutting priority of the program and it is therefore included in all the entity activities.

P5: PROMOTION OF VOLUNTEERING

The entity has been working in various European volunteering projects within the Erasmus+ framework and also, since 2018, within the European Solidarity Corps framework. It has been a promoter of more than 40 mobilities since 2013 and it has carried out awareness campaigns in relation to social volunteering at local and/or international level. Moreover, Gantalcalá has, itself, 33 permanent volunteers.

The philosophy of the entity is to support as many young people as possible with the search of social projects or activities. Therefore, Gantalcalá advocates for the quality and not the quantity of volunteer mobilities. The entity prefers to be a sending organization that individually and fully supports their volunteers, rather than being a more distant agent that does not cover all the participant´s needs.

Our target group is the one defined by the corresponding program. Within the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), we work with young people between 17/18 - 30/35 years old. It is also important to point out that we always give priority to disadvantaged groups, groups at risk of exclusion or with fewer opportunities.

P6. AWARENESS RAISING FOR GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

The organization belongs to the Federation of Development Cooperation Organizations of the Community of La Rioja (CONGDCAR), in which it participates by supporting training, workshops and talks about the importance of education in global citizenship among all sectors of the population (all the public, both civilians and those belonging to the public administration or any educational entity).
