Description de l'organisation

The MJC of Aureilhan, an association under the law of 1901, was created at the end of 1996. Its vocation is to set up educational and leisure activities based on the development of democracy, the bringing together of social categories and conviviality. It is an approved member of the Popular Education movement and works on a daily basis in this sense. The purpose of the MJC is to promote the autonomy and fulfilment of individuals and to allow everyone access to education and culture, so that everyone can participate in the construction of a more cohesive society. The MJC's mission is to run a place of experimentation and social innovation as close as possible to the inhabitants and to offer services that encourage initiative, responsibility and civic practice. Rooted in the city, the MJC contributes to the creation of
social links by listening to the population and participating in local development. To do this, it works in partnership, particularly with the local community, and is a source of proposals. The MJC has an active conception of democracy and puts it into practice. It believes in the virtues of the confrontation of ideas and the need for creativity. The MJC is open to all, without discrimination, in a friendly atmosphere. Respectful of personal convictions, the MJC refrains from any attachment to a party, a political movement or a religion. The MJC is characterised by the existence of 4 areas of activity:
♦Childhood action
♦Youth action
♦Activity clubs
♦ Cultural programming

On 31 August 2020, the MJC had 674 members, a drop of 100 memberships compared to the previous year. This drop can be explained by the health context of the year 2020, in particular by the periods of closure of the leisure centres and the youth action.
In addition to the 674 members, there are also users who are not members of the MJC, such as young people who participate in the MJC's activities within the Foyer Socioéducatif du Collège Paul Valéry, as well as spectators of the cultural programme who were able to attend the shows before the confinement, as well as the inhabitants of the Arréous and Courréous neighbourhoods who participate in the MJC's activities within the framework of the city's political projects, at least during the first quarter of 2020.
In this context and by correlating the values of popular education with the objectives of the MJC and its areas of activity, the opening towards the European solidarity body seems obvious. Being the bearer of a "living together" project that goes beyond the borders not of a region but of countries is a way of bringing individual people and a region together. Personal fulfilment through individual emancipation. This project aims to be the answer to territorial challenges:
To open the territory and the young people to international mobility, in particular European.
- To contribute to the local dynamic.
- Strengthen the networks of actors, particularly young people, around mobility.

  • Cette organisation est titulaire d’un label de qualité du corps européen de solidarité. Le label de qualité certifie que l’organisation est en mesure de mener des projets conformément aux principes et aux objectifs du corps européen de solidarité.
