Beskrivelse av organisasjon
The Development Cooperation and Social Action Centre is part of the University of Burgos. In particular, it is a department linked to the International Relations and Cooperation Vice-chancellorship. This body was created in October 2008 and is a gathering place to organize, promote and spread every activity related to Sustainable Human Development. It also encourages the local and International Voluntary Work. Even though its main activity is focused on the University Community, the Centre is also open to every person, association or institution that wants to be involved in the fight to get a fairer, more equal and more solidary world.
Objectives:
1. Encourage solidary values within the University Community.
2. Transform the University into a space to reflect and debate about the necessary changes needed to promote justice and solidarity worldwide.
3. Develop and promote a university policy in solidarity and Development Cooperation.
4. Foster the University Community participation and sensitivity in projects related to Sustainable Human Development, Gender Equality, Equality between and within generations, Critical Thinking and Culture for Peace.
5. Coordinate and promote university teaching and researching initiatives that promote Development Education.
6. Promote universities coordination and collaboration between institutions that work for similar aims.
7. Coordinate initiatives with local Development Cooperation actors and social movements.
8. Promote Voluntary Work within the University of Burgos.
9. Collaborate on Capacity Building with Universities coming from developing countries.
10. Participate in Knowledge Transference Programs with countries with less Human Development Index.

- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
