Our school is situated in the central part of Kielce. We have two separate buildings close to each other. In the main building there are three corridors, where young learners learn and students from the seventh and the eighth grades. The second building is occupied by grades the fourth, the fifth and the sixth ones. Today we have 441 pupils. We have got two renovated gyms and playgrounds. In October we will have new modern equipped language classrooms with full software because we start a new European Project " In the digital world". In this project students will have two extra English lessons, Lego classes and robotics.We learn in 25 classrooms equipment in interactive boards or projectors. All volunteers can use these devices as well. In our canteen volunteers will get hot meals every day
We hire 70 workers among them 50 teachers. In case of difficulties during work our well-qualified staff will help. Volunteers can always count on our teachers' support who will explain how to cope with any obstacles. Most of our staff can speak at least basic English. One of English teachers would be responsible for a direct contact with volunteers (EVS supervisor). The detailed schedule will be prepared by whole teaching stuff so the potential of the volunteers will be efficiently planned. To make the project interesting, enriching for the volunteers and a great contribution to school life there will be many people employing in the project:
Project coordinator, EVS supervisor EVSMate, Mentor as well as experienced teachers depends on our volunteers interests (PE , Art, Music, librarians, secretary and office worker, IT teachers, a day- care room and canteen manager) and accountant worker involved.
We strive to provide the highest quality learning and teaching. We aim for our students to become billinguals as well as ensure that they attain and achieve their full potential and acquire the full range of skills and abilities relevant to growing, living and working in the contemporary world. To give them chance to develop their language skills we participate in different projects. We had exchange trips to Romania and Italy, In 2017- 2019 we participated in Erasmus + project :Developing key competences through sport". Now we coordinate project "Green 4 Future". We are waiting for a final result.
Students are encouraged to participate fully and actively in the wide range of opportunities provided to suit their learning styles. The youngest learners (aged 6 to 9) can spend their time in day-care room, before or after their classes, doing homework, studying, taking part in different activities or just playing. For older pupils we have a wide range of afterschool clubs such as: football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, physiotherapy exercises, science, math, math in English, journalist (USG-school magazine), choir, clubs for students needing assistance, successful English Theatre Club, languages (English, German and Russian). We also organise lots of competitions and cultural events.
We have a wide range of duties for future volunteers. They can:
- help in a day - room
- organise afterschool clubs to help weaker students (doing homework, developing interests, talking about other cultures and traditions.)
- help teachers to organise different competitions according to their interests and skills, promote English - speaking countries by familiarising with traditions like Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, Easter, St. Valenine's Day or St. Patrick Day as well as their own customs. We also expect engagement in our school events such as "Generation Meeting" , π Number Holiday, The English week, Head teacher's Cup Contest, Multicultutal Day, The Global Village)
- participate in extra curricular activities according to their interests ( ex: Drama Club, Music Club, DIY Club, Sport Club)
- help in afterschool clubs (Festival Club, Reading Club, Student's Cinema Club) according to their interests
- play with pre - schoolers (using basic English, preparing games and songs in their own mother tonque)
- take part in tutorial classes for students (aged 13 - 15)
- participate in schools trips, excursions
- do the gardening
- organise the volunteers’ corner
- have Polish language classes two times per week;
- have international meeting with other EVS and foreigners in our city
- meet with EVS Mate, Mentor
- participate in international projects
Due to their responsibilities volunteers can learn to organize classes, work with students, prepare exercises or activities for students and deal with problems. Moreover they will have the opportunity to acquire the Polish language on language classes as well as during every day situations by sightseeing, going on trips and meeting new friends. They can also learn about Polish history and culture by organizing different cultural events and competition at school.
