Description of organisation

Klaipeda Queen Louise Youth Centre is a budgetary non-formal education institution. Institutions main objective is to help a child or a youngster to acquire competencies, to become conscious individual capable of responsibly and being able to creatively solve his/her own problems, play an active role in society and to adapt to a changing environment.
Klaipeda Queen Louise Youth Centers activity objectives - to carry out measures that have an indirect impact on the educational process; to ensure the quality of education and development of youth occupation; strengthen institutions community and ameliorate it's image in Klaipeda.
Institutions main activity branches are: music education, choreographic education, art education, theater education.
The institution has three branches: the choreography studio "Inkarelis", studio theater "Aušra" and the "Atviros jaunimo erdvės" (Open youth spaces).

Open youth spaces for young people is the only of its kind in the city of Klaipeda (which welcomes young people from 14 to 29 years). The structural unit is unique in that it is not mandatory attendance, young people can come whenever they want, there is no obligation to attend it regularly. Young people are from different schools, universities, nationalities, some of them already work, there are from different social status and experience social exclusion. Permanent traffic of youngsters are 275. During 2019 youngsters visited Open youth spaces for 3456 times.
Youngsters in Open youth spaces have the opportunity to interact, to spend time in a meaningful way, they are given the opportunity to develop their creativity, to self-express, implement projects and ideas. Employees working with both youth groups and to individuals through the open youth work principles and methods. Activities are based on the universal values - tolerance and respect. In Open youth spaces territory, usage of tobacco, alcohol, psychotropic and other psychoactive substances, or selling it is prohibited. Open youth spaces create a friendly and safe environment. Institution also carries out the project "Youth workers on the street". The project coordinator works with unemployed, and unmotivated young people from 15 to 29 years.
In Open youth spaces there is table tennis and football, table games, music room with equipment to play and record (4 guitars, drums, synthesizer, microphones), photo-video room (two photo-cameras, a video camera, equipment for photo-studio type photography is in dance room), green room (designed to watch movies, meetings, play video games), sports room (gym equipment, football training three times a week, arm wrestling trainings from a professional arm wrestler), dance room (huge mirrors, dance lessons), creative space (little kitchen with all needed equipment, easels, here is space to do ceramics, drawing activities, play table games). Workers organize camps, trainings and hikes for youngsters. Youngsters are also able to organize discussions, exhibitions, events etc. workers are always open for new ideas. Traditional events: Halloween, Open youth spaces birthday, Gratitude evening, Valentines day, Short movie festival.
