Descripción de la organización:

MitOst e.V. wurde 1996 als Plattform für die Vernetzung und den Austausch aktiver Bürger und Akteure der nicht-formalen Bildung gegründet.
Heute bietet MitOst ein Dach für mehrere internationale Kooperationsprogramme, zahlreiche internationale Projekte, die Arbeit von 10 Alumnigruppen, das jährliche MitOst-Festival und das vielfältige Engagement von rund 1.500 MitOst-Mitgliedern aus 49 Ländern der EU und ihrer Nachbarregionen Osteuropa, Asien und Nordafrika.
Die Projekte des Vereins fördern den kulturellen Austausch, die aktive Bürgerschaft, den sozialen Zusammenhalt und die nachhaltige städtische und ländliche Entwicklung. MitOst unterstützt und qualifiziert junge Menschen, Seminarleiter, Koordinatoren nicht-formaler Bildungsprogramme und NGO-Manager.
Das MitOst-Festival, das traditionell jedes Jahr in einem anderen Land stattfindet, ist ein jährlicher Treffpunkt für das Vereinsnetzwerk. Es bringt fast 400 aktive Bürger, Pädagogen, Vertreter von NGO, Sozialunternehmer und andere changemakers zusammen.
Das Bildungsprogramm Horizontal school, das in der Abteilung für aktive Bürgerschaft bei MitOst verankert ist, ist das zentrale Bildungsprogramm im Rahmen dieses Antrags. Horizontal school schafft Lernräume, in denen Diversität zelebriert wird und jedem die Möglichkeit geben wird, eigenes Potential zu entfalten. Basierend auf Methoden der nicht-formalen Bildung, umgesetzt mit einer Mischung aus Theorie und Praxis, finden Wochentrainings zu verschiedenen Themen statt. Horizontal school entfaltet das Potenzial von Lernenden, ihren Teams und Organisationen, sich in einer (zu) komplexen Welt zu orientieren.
MitOst verfügt über fast 20 Jahre Erfahrung in der Durchführung und Förderung nicht-formaler Bildungsprozesse im Bereich der aktiven Bürgerschaft und kulturellen Austausches für junge Menschen, die durch Anschubfinanzierung und andere Hilfsmittel unterstützt werden, positive Veränderungen in ihren Gemeinden anzustoßen.
Seit 2014 hat MitOst jedes Jahr mehrere internationale Freiwillige im Rahmen des Europäischen Freiwilligendienstes und des Europäischen Solidaritätskorps-Programmes in dem Berliner Büro aufgenommen. Die Freiwilligen waren an der Vorbereitung von den MitOst-Festivals sowie an der Unterstützung der Bildungs- und Kapazitätsaufbauprogramme und Netzwerkveranstaltungen beteiligt.

MitOst was founded in 1996 as a platform for networking and exchange for active citizens and non-formal educators. It is now an association with around 1,500 members in 49 countries in the EU and its neighboring regions- Eastern Europe and North Africa, 10 alumni groups, and around 40 employees who lead international cooperation programmes and projects fostering cultural exchange, active citizenship, social cohesion, sustainable urban and rural development. MitOst supports and qualifies young people, trainers, coordinators of non-formal education programmes and NGO managers.
MitOst Festival, organised traditionally each year in a different country, is an annual meeting point for our network. It brings together almost 400 active citizens, educators, NGO representatives, social entrepreneurs and other change makers. Horizontal School, which is anchored in the Active Citizenship Department, is the core educational programme in the field of this application. By creating learning spaces, combining theory and practice as well as supporting meaningful connections we unfold the potential of individuals, their teams and organizations to orientate in a (too) complex world.
MitOst has almost 20 years of experience in realising and fostering non-formal educational processes in the field of active citizenship and cultural exchange for young people, supporting them with seed funding and other tools to help them bring about positive change in their communities.
Since 2014, MitOst has been hosting several international volunteers each year within the European Voluntary Service and European Solidarity Corps Programme in our Berlin office. The volunteers have been involved in the preparation of the MitOst Festivals as well as in supporting our educational and capacity-building programmes and international network events.
