Description of organisation

The Association of people with disabilities of the Sisak-moslavina county is an independent, voluntary, apolitical, non-profit organization for children with development impediments and people with disabilities, who join the Association in order to gain easier access to benefits and rights guaranteed by the law. The Association has been active since 2003. We have at our disposal several facilities throughout the county, through which we provide service and support to our members, including: access to information, rehabilitation services, psycho-educational empowerment, individual psychological counseling, occupational activities, work therapy, creative workshops, playrooms, and organized transport, among others. We provide services on a regular basis to more than 60 members. We promote socialization, integration, inclusion and deinstitutionalization, and fight against prejudice, isolation and discrimination facing our members. We have a proven track record of stable financing through continual financial support from the local and regional administration, formalized through signed contracts with the cities of Sisak and Petrinja as well as with the Sisak-moslavina county. Also, we are a member of the Network of service providers which is managed by the Ministry of Social Policy and Youth. Furthermore, we have signed a three-year financing contract with the same Ministry, within a program for development and enhancement of social services. Our sustainability is further ensured through the access to the Intervention plan funds of the City of Petrinja. Finally, from 2018 we will again have access to the Institutional support provided by the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.
