It is a public primary school, so our primary goal is to educate children and young people, and the target groups are mainly children and their parents. However, due to the fact that it is one of two schools in a small city with 13,000 inhabitants, our school also plays an important role as a culture-creating place, a place where municipal, not only school, sports competitions take place (the school has a large modern hall sports). Therefore, we are also a natural meeting place and integration of the local community. The school inspires many activities in Milicz that go beyond the ordinary teaching of children between 8 and 15 years of age. As a school named after the famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, we also try to develop extracurricular interests of young people and children about stars and planets, sky observation. The school regularly invests in astronomy equipment and collaborates with astronomy enthusiasts. These and many other activities of our school make it a good place to host European Solidarity Corps volunteers who have been an important part of our community for years.
