Beschreibung der Einrichtung

TERRA TECH is a non-governmental organization, which is primly engaged in humanitarian aid, emergency response and development projects since 1986. We aim to support people who suffer from poverty and distress. More than 400 projects in 53 countries provide the balance that keeps us moving. Following our motto "empower people to help themselves" we assist people up to the point where they are able to improve their living conditions in the long-term by themselves and without being dependent on the help of others.

Since we believe in the participatory approach a significant part of our project responsibility rests upon the shoulders of our local partners. Due to their daily work onsite they are highly familiar with the local people´s needs and problems. Allowing them to develop successful solutions. Many ideas in fact have their origin within the respective target group. Only from time to time we send staff for advising our partners, to coordinate and evaluate our projects and for capacity building. The close cooperation with local partners creates a lively, intercultural working atmosphere.

Since our partners carry out the projects on site, the main work of TERRA TECH is located at our desks in the German office. However, our tasks are not boring at all. We keep in touch with people around the globe, organize the project cycle management and plan fundraising activities. A bigger portion of the daily routine is to keep in touch with the German public and supporters that fund our projects. We are supported by our members, private donors, as well as numerous foundations, the German government and befriended partner organizations. Keeping all those groups up to date is crucial for gaining additional support for our projects. While the work might get hectic from time to time, the broad and thankful smiles of the people that benefit from our projects are always a big reward for us.
