Descripción de la organización:

The primary objective of Horitzó is to promote integration in the workplace of people with social and / or physical disabilities, sensory and mental illnesses, as well as people at risk of social exclusion. We work mainly in the Berguedá rural county in the province of Barcelona.

Horitzó Group consider that inclusion through work is the most solid tool to achieve good results in the social inclusion. Work is a powerful mean to promote rehabilitation, re-education and integration of people at risk of exclusion. Currently our volunteering team is mainly composed by people with mental health issues, they are independent and reach the working place by their own, autonomously sticking to the the schedule of the organization, some of them drive our van to carry out their volunteering.
To overcome personal and skill related obstacles we provide special support and training in the workplace.
The training is focused on: apprentice training , both technical and management of work rhythm, organization of work, professional relationships and professional work.
Our activity promote the recovery of habits of personal and social care that allow daily coexistence and work, through daily work and personal relationships in the workplace.

Our main activities are: Patum workshop, recollection and recycling of books, cloths, furniture and other objects, old furniture restoration, Art expositions of paintings made by our users.

Patum workshop: we realize souvenirs, merchandising and clothes, of La Patum, the main traditional event of Berga, It was declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1983, and as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2005. In the workshop there are volunteers with special conditions, EVS volunteers and locals. We paint, cut, stick, build, sew and draw products throughout the year, to sell them to the local shops and in our own during Patum.

Recollection and Recycle: we collect clothes, books, and furnitures to fix them in our workshop and sell them in our shop to fund Horitzó activities. We also cooperate with the Social-Service office providing freely the goods that we recycle to the people in need. Roughly once a month we send some of the collected clothes to Barcelona, to the central collection point of Ropa Amiga in order to be sent in other parts of the world where they are more needed.

Furniture restoration: we have a restoration workshop where our volunteers give new life to old furniture.

Art expositions: every 2 years we take part in the project Artistic Pairs (Parellas Artisticas) of Fundació Centre Medic Psicopedagògic d' Osona and coordinated by ASFAM, where persons with issues pair with artists and realize 4 hands artworks that will be exposed in several cities of Catalunya, the artworks are sold in an auction to re-fund the project and to artistic courses for people with disabilities.

We will realize as well the following complementary activities in partner organisations of Horitzó.
-Boccia: is a paralympic sport, in Berga there is a service of training for people who want to learn to play offered with the help AEDEQ's EVS volunteers, a retired professional trainer and referee volunteering and the Civic Centre. In this service is training the 2018 champion of Spain and 2017 champion of Catalunya of the category BC2. The ESC volunteers of horitzó will cooperate with the ESC volunteers of AEDEQ to boost this service.
-Templarios de Puig-reig: The Templers of Puig-Reig are an historical and cultural organisation that organize fairs, fests and historical recreation across the county. They are growing organisation and every year their events attract more people, plus they keep alive the history of Puig-Reig that was an important documented centre of Templers activity. We help them to create their vests and complements for the characters and souvenirs, and as well we help them directly in realizing their activities.
-AEDEQ, the Spanish Association for Equine Assisted Therapies: The ESC volunteers will help AEDEQ in the fairs and session taking picture and disseminating AEDEQ's work. As well they will help Horitzó users to get in touch with the practice of therapeutic relation with animals.
