Projekt Človek (meaning: Project Man) Association is an NGO, non-profit, humanitarian organization, executing public social security programme. It is the largest organization in the Slovenian social field, providing various programmes addressing problems and solutions for people and their families who are facing different forms of addiction. The main programme Project Man is therapeutic-educational programme based on community as its fundamental objective. Its main goal is advocacy of abstinence, quality of life as a result and social reintegration (non-violence, honest way of living, independency, having jobs, getting education etc.). Established in 1994 performing only counselling, with first Day-care Center a year later, it has now grown into an organization with 3 Therapeutic Communities (Therapeutic Community, Therapeutic Community for addicted parents with children and Therapeutic Community for addicts with dual diagnoses), Program for Children and youth, 6 Admission Centres and 2 Admission offices in different cities around Slovenia. Target groups are vulnerable groups, addicts facing economic, social and psychological exclusion, young people age 14 – 18 having difficulties in school, experimenting with drugs, and their family members. Volunteer will be placed in Therapeutic Community for addicted parents and their children, where activities like workshops with children and parents, therapeutic treating, planning activities, upbringing and parenting, day scheduling, helping program users taking on responsibilities, will be taking place.

Volunteer will be in contact with 4 parents and 4 preschool children. There may be some more parents and children on weekends, from other two Therapeutic Communities. In the year of 2018 there were 673 program users and 777 relatives in all of our programmes.
Should our experience be positive in regard to hosting international volunteer in Therapeutic Community for addicted parents and their children, we would be happy to host more volunteers in other programmes.
