Description of organisation

Svjetski savez mladih Jugoistočna Europa is part of a global coalition of about 300.000 young people in Europe committed to promoting the dignity of the person as the foundation of every human right and building solidarity among young people in South East Europe. Through the experience of founders, it brings values of Human Dignity and Human Rights, to the Youth in South east Europe. We are working in the fields of Education, Advocacy and Culture, aiming to encourage youth to become active and responsible citizens in their local communities, working on the activities that nurtures the value of solidarity.

Our Mission is to promote the dignity of the person by building a coalition of young people able to articulate, defend and live the dignity of the person in their lives and influence the communities in which they live.
Our Vision is a community in which the dignity of the person is the foundation for policy and program implementation; in which we understand that progress entails a commitment to the dignity of each human person and the adoption of person-centered solutions.

Our target groups are youth from 18 - 30 years old, students or NEET, willing to join the projects with the emphasis on values like Solidarity, Human Rights, European Values, Culture, Active Citizenship, etc. Given that we recognize the need to strengthen young people and transfer new skills and knowledge to young people, we want to contribute to the formation of young people at SEE regional and local level.

We can share those youth in 2 groups:

1. Youth that are members of our branches in 16 countries of South East Europe. At the yearly level we will provide a training for them, starting with CTP program, Training for trainers and later helping them with implementation of our other programs like HDC, Femm etc. We will also encourage them to work at the local level on the issues relevant to their youth members.

2. Youth that are local volunteers in Zagreb, working with staff members at the local activities that are happening during the year. Those youth are led by our Regional Director Valentino, who supervise them and jointly with them develop activities that are implemented and led by youth. Those activities refers to the needs in the local community and has solidarity character. Some of them includes work with local youth, youth migrants that are waiting for their asylum in Zagreb, youth that don’t have appropriate care, from the Homes for uninhabited children, homeless people etc., that are our indirect beneficiaries.

Our regular activities will be:
1. Conducting the CTP training for youth of SEE region - regional and local level, online & offline
2. Implementing the HDC program in the schools with English working programs and among young migrants in JRS, primarily in Zagreb
3. Organizing and implementing SEE Solidarity Forum in Zagreb, at regional level, on the topics of Human Rights, Democratic Participation, Human Dignity, Youth in Advocacy, etc.
4. Organizing and implementing Art & Art lovers Forum in Zagreb, at regional level, on the different topics in Art relevant to Youth, with 50% youth participants with fewer opportunities
5. Organizing and leading Media campaign in the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day at the regional level, with filming short videos and preparing different Digital Materials on the topic of Human Rights
6. Organizing the workshops in the field of culture, for the homeless people, encouraging them in writing songs, painting, attending an exhibitions or organizing their own exhibitions, writing the texts for their newspapers, in the partnership with Ulični fajteri organisation, in Zagreb
7. Organizing workshops on the topic of human dignity and human person, communication, problem solving, organizing your time, making a friendship etc. with the uninhabited children in their Homes, in Zagreb
8. Organizing Training for trainers, including different workshops in the field of professional development, Communication, Project Management, Advocacy, Media & Social Media, Fundraising, Benefits of Volunteering, etc., for the youth of SEE region and for population of NEET in Zagreb, differently adapted for both population
9. Conducting different Erasmus + projects, at the topics of Human Rights, Solidarity, Leadership etc. including relevant and actual topics for the European Youth and always including youth with fewer opportunities, in Zagreb and at regional level
10. Preparing the Advocacy Proposals and Policy Recommendations in a several fields regarding Human Rights, interesting to our members, at the regional level.

At all named activities we will cooperate with stakeholders relevant for the youth, as decision makers, University professors, local and regional politicians, MEPs and experts of different kinds.

This organisation is willing to involve volunteers who face situations which make their participation in activities more difficult, from the following categories for different types of project:

  • This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
