Description of organisation

The Portuguese Red Cross is an humanitarian, non-governamental institution, with its basis on volunteering and social interest, and non-profit. Its activities are according to the Humanitarian International Law and abiding to the Fundamental Principles and recomendations from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It's Red Cross mission to provide humanitaran and social assistance - taking special consideration to the more vulnerable, preventing and repairing the suffering, and contributing to the defense of life, health and human dignity.
The Vale de Cambra's delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross has a long work with vulnerable and at risk youth, as well with disadvantage families. We run a Residential Care Facility for 20 boys and a social office that attends more than 150 individuals. We are focused in the áreas of social development and health, developing the following activities: social services, distribution of food, clothes and furniture to socially and economically vulnerable families; transportation for medical appointments, and others support activities for vulnerable individuals. We also work regularly with a group of social disadvantaged women promoting life, social, emocional and interpersonal skills.
