Description of organisation

Tele Radio City SCS Onlus is engaged in activities ranging from local to European level. The cooperative's activities are mainly developed in 3 interconnected fields.
The first is social communication and information.
In 1975 Tele Radio City founded Radio Sherwood, one of the first free radio stations in Italy. The radio still exists and since 2011 has become a webradio on the web platform www.sherwood.it.
In 1996 Tele Radio City created the project "Melting Pot Europa", a radio broadcast translated into 5 languages and addressed to foreign citizens; in 2003 the web platform and the website www.meltingpot.org,which deals mainly with issues related to migration, were created. The website was awarded the eContent Award Italy in 2007 as the best Italian website related to social inclusion issues.
In 2002, the portal www.Globalproject.info was created, whose contents concern current Italian and international politics, with particular reference to social movements.
Since 2010, the website www.ecomagazine.info has been online. It deals with ecological and environmental issues, both at a territorial and global level.
In 2012, in parallel with the growth of popular sport in Italy and Europe, the site SportAllaRovescia.it was born, in collaboration with many anti-racist sports associations.
All the websites are independent communication projects, the result of a collective commitment of associations, experts, lawyers, teachers, activists, journalists, photographers, video makers, who make their work available for the creation of a critical, independent and free information.
Tele Radio City, through Melting Pot, in 2017 is the leader of the project of independent monitoring of administrative detention centres for migrants and of the Italian reception system for asylum seekers. The project is part of the LasciateCIEntrare Campaign (www.lasciatecientrare.it), and its spin-off is the "Dossier Libya" project.
The second field is entertainment and sociality. Tele Radio City organizes the cultural event "Sherwood Festival" which has been taking place in Padua for almost 40 years. It is the largest independent music and culture event in Italy in terms of duration, attendance and importance of events. Within the festival events of great interest are organized: meetings, debates, live concerts, theatre and film shows, book presentations, children's activities and sports events. The audience of the festival is of all ages and ethnic groups. Since 2019 the Sherwood festival has been plastic free. The festival includes training courses for asylum seekers living in Veneto. In addition to the Festival, there are many musical and cultural events that TRC organizes throughout the year, in different social spaces of the North-East of Italy.
The third and final field is training. Firstly, there are the training courses conducted by the Melting Pot Europe project for social and legal professionals, public administration staff, lawyers and social workers. The issues addressed concern the legal conditions of foreign citizens, minors, asylum seekers, victims of trafficking and exploitation. In addition, there are free language courses for foreigners. The activity takes place in self-managed spaces in various cities in the North-East of Italy (Treviso, Padua, Venice and Trento in collaboration with local realities, associations, groups). Other training activities include web journalism and web writing, the production of transmedia content, radio direction and broadcasting, the management of social networks, organization and promotion of events.
