Halal Incorp (HI) is an organisation which focuses on a range of areas to support communities grow. HI delivers digital services, communication, community training, workshops, adult education support, consultancy, European project support, business development coaching, entrepreneurship education, online courses, marketing services and youth and community development. HI has been involved in many projects both in the adult education field and youth and community development. HI has been working with socially and economically deprived community members for the last 3 years. In addition to this generally members of the organisation have been working in the youth and community voluntary sector for nearly two decades.

The majority of the community development work has taken place in Greater Manchester in the UK but also includes work done nationally and internationally. HI is a company limited by guarantee and aims to provide social impact as showcased in the text in our logo and has a social ethos which is centred around ‘giving back’ to the community. Our core philosophy revolves around social impact. HI’s objectives are to support the development and training of community members to enhance and build their personal, social and professional development preparing them for the world of work and to become positive and active members of society. HI’s vision is to see prosperous community members who have improved levels of wellbeing and wellness and overcome issues around deprivation.

The communities we work with have issues around skills, training, marginalisation and are on the fringes of society. Our work uses adult education, training and youth and community methodologies to increase the life chances of community members. We aim to facilitate a platform for community members to have their voices heard through empowering engagement work and we aspire to help communities move towards transformative social change.

Although this is the first time we are directly applying for a European Erasmus + project we have several years of experience in this field. We have been trained and mentored by Praxis Europe which is a Birmingham based organisation working with disadvantaged communities helping provide opportunities for young people and adults through vocational training and mobilities in Europe. Praxis Europe has a long track record of European project delivery and promotion. It is also one of the few organisations in the UK which has been granted a VET Mobility Charter due to the excellence in their work and project delivery. Some of our members have worked with Praxis Europe delivering and executing projects on their behalf as well as attending adult education and VET mobilities. This has given us the skills and experience to now deliver our own independent European projects.

We have been involved in many projects around a variety of issues such as employability, arts and crafts, adult education, vocational training, disability, youth development, youth work etc. In addition to this some of our members have previously been involved in Salto Euromed projects, Human Rights work at the Council of Europe, European Youth Centre in Budapest and entrepreneurial projects in places such as Barcelona. HI provides tailored support to BME communities and also works with other marginalised groups such as white working class and refugees. Our work has supported 100’s of individuals develop their skills, education, confidence, self esteem and motivation helping people find employment opportunities, work placements and places in higher education.
