Organisation description
Located at about fifteen kilometers from Namur, on the southern slopes of the beautiful valley of the Meuse, the village of Mozet is embedded in a framework dominated by shades of green: the grassland, crops, groves and woods that surround it . This green is accented by small islands that make up the many gardens.
Located in the middle of a park of 11 hectares, the castle of Mozet, magnificent quadrangle built of limestone dating part of the second half of the sixteenth century, is dominating the village. Formerly devoted to agricultural activities, it houses the last thirty years a center for meetings and accommodation.
Property of the Guides Catholiques de Belgique, restored and maintained for more than 50 year, the Domaine de Mozet quickly became a meeting and hosting place estimated by a wide audience of both youth groups, schools and associations, offering training or recreational activities for young and adult audiences. For several years, families and associations of the socio-cultural as well as companies choose to spend time at the Domaine, attracted by the quality of its welcome and the philosophy behind its project.
The values of solidarity, respect, citizen involvement, present at the creation of the domain, and the quality of its environment have guided the project area. This project, enriched over the years, is focused on awareness to the nature activities and promotes an approach of respect and participation to active and responsible eco-citizenship values. The Domaine offers to practice an environmental citizenship in daily life; the best way to practice sustainable development and make it concrete.
The infrastructure of the Domaine offers many possibilities for accommodation, catering and in terms of nature activities. Several rooms of various capacity allow to hold meetings, conferences, seminars and various events.
The Domaine is a place of hospitality and accommodation where outdoor classes are held, holiday courses, seminars, meetings, trainings, festivities ...
The “Domaine de Mozet” is frequented by a diverse audience:
- Youth associations, youth organizations, youth groups, courses for children, ...
- Nursery, primary and secondary schools and training centers, universities,
- Associations, civcivic groups, artists, ...
- Families, couples, individual
- Businesses, NGOs, professional federations, ...
Local Community
Mozet is a small village of 300 inhabitants. Around the church, perched on the hill, the old center is characterized by
narrow streets along which are dotted with small limestone and slate-roofed houses. In addition to these remarkable
buildings, Mozet offers attractions like the famous prehistoric caves of Goyet, riding schools, .. Namur, capital of Wallonia,
is at 15 km. The accommodation is proposed to the volunteer: either in the castlefarm in an totally isolated, rural
environment.. or in Namur, in an urban setting, in a pedagogy that houses youth from all countries.
It is then necessary to take the bus every day (about 3 / 4 hour) to arrive at Mozet.
