opis organizacji

The CRC is one of the largest and most progressive providers of supports and services to children and adults with disabilities in Ireland, holding over 36,000 clinical sessions every year from our locations in Clontarf, Clondalkin, Waterford, and Limerick. Our mission is to work together to make a positive difference to the lives of people with disabilities, their families, and carers.

Our vision is that people with disabilities achieve their potential and live full lives as equal and valued citizens. People are at the heart of what we do: our clients, their families and carers, our staff and volunteers. We value the trust placed in us and we carry at our core the principles of openness, respect, empowerment, and excellence. We offer expert care, education, training, therapy, and support to children and adults with disabilities from all over the country. We provide specialist services and supports to nearly 4,000 children and adults of all ages living with conditions such as cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders such as Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, hereditary motor and sensory neuropathies, arthrogryposis, brachial plexus injuries, hereditary spastic paraplegia, ataxia, spina bifida, and multiple rare genetic conditions.

Our Multidisciplinary Clinical Services teams work together to provide a diverse number of medical, clinical, and therapeutic interventions. Our teams in Clontarf, Clondalkin, and Waterford work with children, parents, and carers from every county in Ireland to best deliver comprehensive care. In providing guidance and direction, as well as diagnostic expertise, they assist families so children achieve maximum independence and improvements in their overall quality of life.

Over the last 60 years, through a culture of continuous learning and improvement, our National Specialist Services have developed a range of specialist medical, therapeutic, and technical services for children and adults with complex and rare conditions across Ireland. With innovative medical and surgical interventions, as well as evidence-based therapies, children and adults from all over Ireland are supported to achieve their full potential.

Our schools in Clontarf and Clondalkin provide differentiated and individualised education to almost 200 pupils with physical and multiple disabilities. Pupils also access health and other essential services during the school day. Our specially trained staff ensure we can enrol pupils that other schools cannot cater for and our pupils access state certified courses including the Junior Certificate and QQI.

Our Adult Services Team is committed to providing a service directed by our adults; supporting choice, independence, and individuality. We support young people and adults with disabilities seeking opportunities to realise their potential in education and employment, advocate for their rights, build relationships, participate in society through valued social roles, and participate in the community through our Training and Development Centre in Clontarf as well as hubs and local centres in Clontarf, Raheny, Killester, Firhouse, and Hartstown.

Our Training and Development Centre is a day service where we support individuals in line with New Directions policy through person centred planning and goal setting to further their education, training, employability, and independence. This includes offering QQI accredited courses, training on Human Rights and the UNCRPD, Assisted Decision Making, as well as learning new hobbies and skills. Our Erasmus+ Key Action 3 project takes place in the context of these services. This centre offers clients four programmes addressing adults of different ages and levels of ability. All clients are supported by keyworkers who provide support in accessing the local community; meeting people; gaining work experience and community employment; accessing housing and Personal Assistant support; and developing skills such as cookery, art, horticulture, and money management.
