Beskrivelse av organisasjon

JSKD - Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities fulfils the national potential of amateur cultural activities.
It supports active creativity, the development of creative capacities, professional standards, and expands the availability of cultural programmes.
Through its programmes, JSKD enables personal growth and cultural integration, encourages programmes of cultural education and lifelong learning and enhances competencies, skills and abilities. As a professional, organisational and financial support to cultural activities, it emphasises counselling, quality education and events, publishing activities, targeted co-financing of projects by cultural societies and associations and interdepartmental and international connections.
The Slovenian cultural space is considered as a field of open communication, relaxed creativity and comprehensive cultural education for sustainable development.
Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities was established by law in 1996 (It was them known as Republic of Slovenia Fund for Free Time Cultural Activities, the current name was decided on the Law on Public Funds in 2000). In addition to taking care of amateur cultural societies and their associations, the fund has begun to act as a cultural intermediary and has carried out organisational and administrative tasks for local communities. Thus, it has been the main driver of cultural politics everywhere, particularly outside the city centres. In 2010, the National Assembly passed a new Public Fund of the Republic of Slovenia for Cultural Activities Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 29/10). An important novelty was the introduction of data collection for shaping the expert groundwork for the fund’s work, controlling the results and the effects of financing, monitoring the fulfilment of contractual obligations by the performers of programmes and projects and monitoring the state of amateur cultural activities and informing the public about financing programmes and projects.
Today, the Republic of Slovenia Public Fund for Cultural Activities is one of the most effective cultural networks in the country, enabling omnidirectional communication between more than 5,000 cultural societies with nearly 110,000 members, local communities, 59 regional branch offices, the central professional service and state institutions. Together, we create over 25,000 events per year, which are viewed by nearly 4 million people.

PROJECT EUROPA CANTAT 2021 (16 July 2021 - 25 July 2021)
JSKD, in cooperation with the City of Ljubljana, the Ministry of Culture and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, successfully applied for hosting the Europa Cantat 2021, which will be held in Ljubljana between 16 and 25 July 2021.
The festival is the largest international choral event in Europe, organized by the European Choral Union every three years in one of the European cities.
Approximately 50 of the world’s greatest conductors and mentors will attend this event and adapt to the levels of the participants, who are both choral music aficionados and professionals.

The project Europa Cantat unites musicians of all generations and nations and it was originally founded after the world war II as an attempt of stabilization of Europe and solidarity, peace and international friendship. Logical upgrade of the project, which moves every three years across Europe is to find international volunteers, that will reinforce this dimension of international solidarity. These young people will be (side by side and equally with JSKD employees) the face of the festival and they will give it new, fresh and especially international notion.
