Let’s Do It Peja (LDIP) is a grass-roots environmental Organization founded in 2012 by a group of citizens who are passionate about the environment. They were involved in various environmental projects as volunteers in and around Peja years before the NGO was formed. The aim was to implement the Ta Pastrojmë Kosovën – Clean-up Kosovo campaign, a Kosovo-wide activity. Since the official registration on July 03, 2014, LDIP has adopted the Vision, “Green and Clean Kosovo”, and has been involved in implementing various projects and activities that fall under the Mission, “We Advocate, Educate and Cooperate for Environmental Protection and Preservation in Kosovo”.
We target all groups of people, as the environment touches us all, regardless age, gender, ethnicity, race and /or religion, although youth are the primary focus of the Organization.
As part of its mid-term strategic plan, the primary goals for LDIP are:
1. Non-formal Environmental Education and Awareness;
2. Environmental Rule of Law Implementation Advocacy;
3. Advocacy and Facilitation of Waste Clean-up and Sustainable Waste Management;
4. Expanding Green Areas;
5. Sustainable Development promotion;
LDIP in it activities target all, as environment touches us all, regardless age, gender, ethnicity, race, religion and /or any other background. Our main focus while implementing projects is involvement of youth as they can protect environment for their own future. By utilizing local young volunteers, we have implemented various projects on environmental protection raising awareness, organized numerous training and workshops, clean-up actions, planting trees, study and exchange visits, monitoring environmental pollution, advocating for environmental policies and rule of law enforcement, etc. Moreover, below you can brief description of past and current projects implemented by Let’s Do It Peja.
Having youth as main focus in our work we have implemented various projects like Bridging Together for Nature & Sports by bringing together Albanian and Serb students with different ethnic background for three-day environmental protection workshop and tree-planting activities; - School Gardening 2016-2018 by creating school gardens in primary schools as a practical tool for Biology classes; Heritage Festival 2018 were students of Primary Schools and Secondary Art School performed educational, cultural and art activities to promote cultural and natural heritage of Peja municipality; Coordinated an Erasmus+ funded program Agro-Tourist Itinerary to Sustainable Change - ATISC aiming to enhance Agro-Tourism as a driver of youth employability, social solidarity, and environmental sustainability in disadvantaged rural communities in Europe and the Western Balkans. Youth Action for Sustainable Development by promoting UN SDG-s, with a focus on SDG #6 Clean Water and Sanitation and SDG #7 Affordable and Clean Energy. Circular Economy Into the Art Through Eco-design as partner in Erasmus+ funded program aims to increase capacities of young workers of 4 Western Balkan Countries and 2 European Member Countries in self-entrepreneurship by promoting circular economy principles in eco-design, innovation and start up creation; Eco Friendship tackles the lack of youth capacities in environmental civil engagement through a cross cultural experience with youth from Albania and Macedonia;
Kosovo is situated in south-eastern Europe with its central position in the Balkans. The New York Times included Kosovo on the list of 41 Places to go in 2011. In the same year, Kosovo saw a jump of about 40 places on the Skyscanner flight search engine which rates global tourism growth. Kosovo's monuments are classified as common property for which the society is responsible to maintain them in order to transmit their authenticity to future generations.
The city of Peja is located in a strategic position in western part of Kosovo. The Lumbardhi river cross through the centre of the city, also, White Drini river spring with beautiful waterfalls is in the vicinity of the Peja. The Rugova Canyon is one of Europe's longest and deepest canyons and is about three kilometres from the city of Peja. Rugova is a mountainous region entered through the North-West part of the city. In 2013 it became a National Park Accursed Mountains which extends in Albania and Montenegro. The Accursed Mountains National Park is known for its beautiful environment and access to the mountains. Skiing is available at the Ski Centre in Bogë village located in the central part of the National Park. One of the most exciting new attractions is the Peak of the Balkans trail. The trail wanders through 3 countries with mountain views. Also other touristic attraction like Via Ferata trails, Zip Line, Caves, restaurants, cafe bars, traditional food and much more, including cultural events such as Anibar - International Animation Festival, International Classic Guitar Festival and more.
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
