Descripción de la organización:

Association SOS Help-Line for Women and Children - Victims of Violence was founded in 1989 as the first nongovernmental organisation in Slovenia specialised in dealing with and helping women and children who are experiencing violence. Applicant – Association SOS Help-line is a women’s non-governmental, non-profit and humanitarian organization that works in a public interest in the field of social security and equal opportunities. Our aim is to help, support and counsel women and children who have experienced or are still experiencing violence in their families and relationships. Association SOS Help-Line focuses its work on the major programmes:
o Free, anonymous and confidential SOS Help-Line for Women and Children - Victims of Violence; in operation since 1989,
o Shelter for Women and Children - Victims of Violence; in operation since 1997, including 2 separately located units (the first opened in 2000 and the second in 2006),o Shelter for Women and Children – Victims of Violence II; in operating since 2009, the only one in Slovenia that can also accommodate women or children with reduced mobility,
o Self Help group for women experiencing violence; founded in 1996.
o Psychosocial and psychological support for women and children – victims of violence and victims of sexual abuse; founded in 2015.

Other regular programmes carried out by the Association SOS Help-Line include:
o Training for volunteers to work at SOS Help-Line and for other Association’s programmes (since 1989 the Association has carried out 54 training courses attended by 692 women),
o Advocacy and a companion to institutions for our users,
o Lecturing and training for professionals in the field,
o Contributing to rising general public awareness about the subject,
o Organising round tables, conferences, discussions, seminars, workshops,
o Publishing,
o Organization and participation at national and international professional conferences, discussions, seminars and other events,
o Lobbying.

There are 16 professional and other employees working for the Association at present. In 2019 voluntary work for the Association was contributed by 46 volunteers. Its head office is in Ljubljana, but it is active in the entire country. We also have our office in Celje that is entirely led by volunteers.
