Our organisation is a school for children from 1st to 9th grade (6 - 15 years old) called ScioŠkola. We are not a traditional Czech school. We were inspired by
democratic schools all around the world (Summerhill in England, Sudbury Valley in USA, Escola da Ponte in Portugal) and we're establishing our very own system of
education where children are becoming more and more responsible for their education as they're getting older. Our main goal is to prepare children for a life in a changing world of the future. We enable children to learn in the way that best suits them. We support the natural joy of learning, which does not depend on good or bad marks.

ScioSchool in Olomouc is placed in very historical centre surrounding of large parks of this University Town. The town is specific for its university life with lot of young people everywhere and also for rich history, so you can discover lot just cruising the city. We operate in two buildings. One is dedicated to first degree Children from 1st to 5th class (6 years old to 11years old) and the other one, 10 minutes far by walk,is for the second degree school children from 6th to 9th class (11 to 15 years old). We have about 90 school children in grand total and 11 guides (we consider ourselves more as guides than as teachers. It is closer to our values we would like to share). The after school club is realized only in our first building and is open for each of our student. Our regular school day begins at 6:30am with the morning school club, 8:30am is the start of lessons until approximately 1 pm (depending on of their school degrees). After lunch, kids move to the after school club where they can stay until 5pm. At this time is the end of the regular school day. The educational part of our school contents by obligatory lessons as Czech,
Mathematics, PE, foreign languages like English, Italian and Project Work. Projects are typical for our school. Each month we offer kids different Project topics. Children can choose one of them and through specific theme (or aim) they can train skills and get information from different subjects (such as Environment, History, Geography, Biology, Arts and Cultural issues). During whole school year each student follows his own “Challenge” to work out. This challenge is designated by child with her or his Mentor on very beginning of each school year. We really like a field trips and learn from real situations, so we have established a “College Friday”. It means that we are divided into several groups called “Colleges” in a mix of age group and do some activities across the current topics, most of the time outside the school. Each college and it's programme is specific, according to the guide´s skills, knowledge, experience and to the taste of the kids that are involved. The after school club is place for going outside in the park for some natural movements (running, jumping, climbing, play football), free games, creating their own small project with all able tools the school provided (art pictures, paper models,). In this afternoon time there is providing some group hobby like is table games, dance, joga, science, visual art, arranged by the externalist coworkers. In after school club attain more than others to informal education.

We welcome our future volunteers to join us with fill in our educational program most of all with the language, culture and other unique skills they have, as well with the field trips, and most of all in our after school club activities. In the Afterschool club the volunteers can be closer and interact with the children through variety games. We are ready to provide our volunteers accommodation in proximity of our school, in the Centre or in the university hall of residence 15-20 minutes far by walk from our school. We offer them to provide a rent of bike or monthly ticket for public transport. In our first school building, where will have the volunteers have a baise, we give them their own cabinet with key, there is a several restrooms with one shower, there is a kitchen where can they have a coffee or snack, they can share the place, desk and computer for they school preparation, with the volunteers coordinator in hersoffice. We welcome our volunteers also to educationals programs as well to national meeting of ScioSchools gathering arranged twice a year. At our school we have many opportunities to visit schools and organizations abroad and get new inspiration to the future. For example some of us already visited democratic school in France and Sweden, international ecology school in Bali, language training in Liechtenstein and plenty of schools in Czech republic. In our team we are opened to new international experiences and we would like to learn more about other cultures. Almost all of us speak fluently english , we also have team members who speaks german, french and native speaker from Italy.
