Magea Escuela Activa is an active school founded in 2016. Magea is a project that offers an educational model based on the integral development of children through democratic education and a teaching model based on experiential learning. In Magea is promoted real, active and meaningful participation, to give children a real protagonism and respect their individuality.

It is an innovative school model based on the pillars of Neuroeducation and the Official Curriculum of Castilla y León through the principles and resources of Active Pedagogy.

Undoubtedly the predominant methodology in the project is Montessori Pedagogy. The children's environment is structured according to these areas: Practical Life, Sensory, Language and Mathematics. A multitude of pedagogical material that Dr Maria Montessori has scientifically developed in order to acquire knowledge in an integral way. These materials allow children to understand concepts from a concrete vision to its most abstract form. For this reason, it is very important to prepare the body, through which the movements and skills are trained, that will be necessary for processes such as reading and writing.

Likewise, if something characterises Montessorian pedagogy, it is the great importance it gives to autonomy. For this reason, we can say that it is a philosophy of life, because it includes not only the academic content but also the way children interact with their environment. In our school, the children have activities and elements through which they take care of their environment and this makes them involved in maintaining the learning space.

But if something characterises Magea it is the fact that it is an eclectic project, in which different pedagogies are combined after a thorough pedagogical study. The development of creativity through art is achieved with different proposals inspired by Reggio's pedagogy and the vision of Creative Education. Similarly, in the preschool environment, Waldorf pedagogy is relevant in terms of the transmission of oral language through its narrative resources.

Thanks to Neuroeducation today we know what are the ideal characteristics for meaningful, lasting and quality learning. For this reason, we adapt our programming and educational work to these principles, with a programme that alternates concentration work time and outdoor movement time that makes the levels of attention to be recharged during the day.
Similarly, our multi-level grouping allows us to establish relationships in which peer mentoring takes place continuously.

In addition to fundamental aspects such as learning through action, encouraging decision making to enable intrinsic motivation and respect for each child's individuality, style and educational rhythm, what the brain appreciates most has already been demonstrated: group life and emotional state. This is why the Positive Discipline is the central axis of our Educational Project. This methodology, based on the individual psychology studies of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs, clarifies the idea that people need to belong to a group and feel important in it.

Magea Escuela Activa hosts boys and girls from 3 to 12 years old divided into 3 age groups: from 3 to 5 years old, from 6 to 8 and finally from 9 to 12 years old. During the school year, it develops educational courses for the three age groups and various extracurricular activities and during the summer it organises socio-educational activities and summer camps. Magea maintains close ties with families who are always actively involved through voluntary activities and actions.
