Description of organisation

Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke/Action Aid Denmark (AADK) work to contribute to creating solutions for worldwide problems, which creates social, political and financial inequality in the world. Over the past decades, the world has seen a good deal of progress. Millions of people who used to be poor now have a better and richer life. Many more children and young people are receiving an education. New technology has made it possible for people from diverse cultures to become closer to each other and exchange experiences and goods. With the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the countries of the world have united to create an ambitious vision for a just, green and sustainable world. However, at this very moment, the world is also facing problems of historic magnitude. Every year, the gap between the rich and the poor grows wider – as does the inequality between those in power and marginalized people.
The number of people forced to flee their homes due to war, persecution, climate-related disasters and conflict is higher than it has been for generations. These are the problems that we in ActionAid, in our capacity as a global justice organization, want to address and to which we want to help find solutions. Over the coming years, our focus will be on fighting for social justice in all the countries where we operate by combatting exclusion and discrimination, whether discrimination means people are being kept in poverty or they are being denied political influence and whether the discriminatory behaviour is due to ethnicity, gender, religious persuasion, or social status.
We will focus on securing a decent life for people by challenging the underlying causes of exclusion and discrimination and of people being kept in poverty. During the next strategy period, AADK will, therefore, work with the global ActionAid federation to strengthen and develop our network and find alternative ways of organizing and financing popular engagement in all the countries we work in. It is a question of building up both grassroots organizing and building up a social business, focusing especially on young men and women.
