Thanks to a team of passionate and dedicated contributors, a website with resources ( https://www.opensofia.org/) was launched in March 2020.

Our mission is to create an informational space for the international community in Sofia and Bulgaria.

Our aims are:
• Integration by the dynamic, multi-actor process of mutual engagement that facilitates effective participation by all members of a diverse society in social and cultural life, and fosters a shared sense of belonging at national and local levels;

Specifically, young adults who are looking for their first job and career, changing career, new educational qualification, relocating, or experiencing certain limitations due to their nationality, religion or socio-economical situation.

Regular activities:
• On-the-job competence building for youth (local and international) by opening positions and recruiting motivated young people who take roles in the foundation;
• Training, counseling, and guidance of youth on career and education paths;

Open Sofia answers people’s important questions about the numerous situations they face every day: how to settle and find a job, what documents to prepare, where to study Bulgarian, what leisure activities to do in English, and many more. In collaboration with local governmental institutions, NGOs, and businesses, the project also provides the community with online and offline events such as social gatherings, educational workshops, networking events, and cultural activities.

Our useful content in the form of articles, videos, events, social media posts and newsletter is created in the international team of over 40 foreigners and Bulgarians passionate about helping others integrate, and is based on the community’s experiences and feedback.

With the website www.opensofia.org and later www.openbulgaria.org, we hope to become the main point of reference for the international community in Bulgaria about their day-to-day life’s information.
