Opis organizacji

Cambium - Leben in Gemeinschaft is a community striving to work on a profound change towards a socially just and ecologically sustainable world. Connected with this vision we build a living, working and learning space for over 100 people (at present we are 60) on the site of a former military base. The group consists of all age groups and different professions, interests and skills are represented. Various manual, agricultural, social and artistic activities are carried out here in order to preserve and pass on traditional knowledge while developing and using meaningful, future-oriented technologies.

We run a small organic farm, a large communal kitchen, practice and office space, various workshops and businesses. A central component of the project is our community-run event center, a hub for learning, encounter and networking, a space for education and culture in which people from the region and beyond can learn from one another. We live and do business in a growing exchange with the region and work on building solidarity-based economic structures that meet people's needs, strengthen interpersonal relationships and are based on sustainable values. As organisation we are known for having a economic system based on flexible voluntary contributions of time, money and skills. We purchased our land through crowdinvesting, which in this scale was never done before in Austria.

Our coexistence is based on openness, voluntariness and mutual trust. We develop togetherness in respect and mindfulness. This culture of cooperation allows us to find new courage time and again, allows us to overcome fears and enables the development of diverse individual potentials.
