Kultur Vor Ort e.V. is a non-profit association of committed Gröpelingen residents, who founded the cultural initiative more than 20 years ago. Today, schools, institutions, commercial enterprises and many committed individuals are members of Kultur Vor Ort e.V.. We see art and culture as a platform for everyone in the district to break down boundaries, develop curiosity, and enter into conversation with one another. Our projects and programs are not only an inventive location marketing, but also serve to build a lively democratic and solidary society. The team of Kultur Vor Ort e.V. consists of cultural scientists, office professionals, artists, stagehands, pedagogues, philosophers, students, scientists, globetrotters and enthusiastic people from Gröpelingen: A concentrated load of competence for the future of urban society. Gröpelingen is also a young district with an above-average number of children and young people. But Gröpelingen also bears a heavy legacy: The decline of the shipyard industry, structural change and global developments lead to high unemployment and a lack of prospects. Children and young people in particular suffer from poverty and a lack of educational opportunities.
Kultur Vor Ort e.V. helps to develop a new future for Gröpelingen. With artistic and cultural interventions we design models for the city of tomorrow. Our main task is to develop offers of art, culture and education and to locate them in the district. We have founded an artists' house with a gallery, café, children's and youth area and artists' studios, established an education center and operate a mobile art studio. We organize large festivals and events with up to 7,000 visitors and create many opportunities for residents and guests to get involved on a voluntary basis. The main tasks in volunteering with Kultur Vor Ort e.V. will be working with groups of children in Atelierhaus Roter Hahn and participate in singular projects focussing on art and design. Each group will develop its own artistic program based on both the age and interests of the participants. The volunteer will accompany all group activities, preparation and follow-up. Te children work on the individual or joint product in the four different rooms of the studio (wood, clay, print, free design ). The volunteer can take on tasks of guidance, accompaniment, support or facilitation, depending on their interests. In addition, the Children's and Youth Studio has time-limited projects with schools and kindergartens that take place over several weeks.
