Lampinsaari School Support Association is a non-profit association. The activities of the association are guided by the rules of the association and Finnish law on associations. The practical activities of the association are guided by the following basic goals: creating new activities, organizing hobby and club activities, developing cultural activities, employing, and building cooperation networks to develop the village's services.

We operate in the village of Lampinsaari. The village is located 45 km from the center of Raahe. Lampisaari is a densely populated community (approx. 260 inhabitants). The village is in the countryside and is a former mining village (the mine was closed in 1995). The history of the mining, the dense population and the communal way of life are reflected in the landscape and everyday life of the village. The village has a long tradition of doing things together, being self-sufficient and constantly learning something new. The association was founded on February 12, 2021, when the city of Raahe closed the village school. The association manages the school's premises and property. The school's premises have been converted to suitable for event and catering services as well as accommodation. Anyone interested in our goals and values can participate in the activities and the be a member of association.

The main goal of our association is to improve the services of the village, to provide employment opportunities for our residents, to develop hobby and cultural activities and to increase well-being. We work closely with various partners to improve the vitality of the village, the comfort of the environment and the well-being of the people. The most important partners are the Lampinsaari Village Association, the City of Raahe, neighboring villages, entrepreneurs in the area, the Raahe Parish, health and welfare organizations and LAG (local action group) Nouseva Rannikkoseutu.

Our association operates in the village, but the activities of our association benefit a much wider area. The school's facilities serve as a common hobby and gathering place open to everyone. We offer a wide range of recreational opportunities as well as indoor and outdoor sports opportunities. In particular, the inhabitants of our village and nearby villages are the main users of hobby services. The school's accommodation and catering services as well as course activities (eg art therapy, wellness, cooking) also serve tourists, educational groups and camp school activities.

Children and young people are one of the main target groups of our association's activities. We offer guided club activities and hobby facilities (wood and metal work classes, gyms) for young people and other residents of our village. The village house has its own space for youth. Together with the parishes, we will start camp school activities for children and young people, and the first camps have been agreed in the summer of 2022. There are also plans for family café activities and camps for youth with learning difficulties. Young people work on various projects. E.g., the young students have designed and carried out renovations in the school’s premises. The young person also works as a school caretaker.

The well-being of children, young people and young adults is an important part of the vitality of the village. In our village, young people have always been involved in activities and development. Efforts have been made to involve young people through project activities. As an association, we want to offer youth more opportunities to find their own strengths and develop their skills. Our association wants to continue supporting young people. The cooperation has started with employment services and has brought positive experiences for both us and youth.
