The Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture (MJC) was created in 1995 to promote the autonomy and development of people, allow everyone to have access to education and culture, so that everyone can participate in the construction of a more united society.
Located in Saint-Jean, a town of more than 10,000 inhabitants, north-east of Toulouse Métropole. It is hosted in the socio-cultural and intergenerational space Les Granges. The association’s project is based on various actions that are :
the support of young people from 14 to 25 years old ;
the Fablab CréaTech (manufacturing workshop open to all, to come imagine, create, manufacture and share their ideas, knowledge and know how) ;
the contribution to local cultural or artistics events ;
the practical activities which welcome about 300 people from the area, aged 6 to 80 years old.
Since its creation, the association has always paid particular attention to young people, and in particular to young people between the ages of 14 and 25 years old, by encouraging initiatives, taking responsibility and citizenship actions.
The MJC of Saint-Jean adheres to the Departemental and Regional Federations of the MJCs but also to the Confederation of the MJCS of France, which has around 650 MJCs including 186 in Occitanie.
- This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
