Description of organisation

The Youth Initiative in Bosnia and Herzegovina is part of the regional network of Youth Initiatives in the Western Balkans.
The Youth Initiative has a vision of young people in BiH who are active and responsible citizens who work proactively on
building good relations among citizens of all ethnic and marginalized groups in BiH, especially in small isolated and
ethnically divided communities within BiH, as well as under construction relations of BiH citizens with other citizens from
neighboring countries and the region. Young people across BiH speak publicly about issues that bother them, and
support protection human rights, the rule of law, democratization and anti-fascism through activism.
Among the main activities there are our Camps and Schools of Different Memories, focussing on the different historical
narratives in Bosnia and Herzegovina and bringing together young people from all over the country to learn more about
these narratives and history in general. An important focus of the Youth Initiative is to commemorate all victims of the war,
regardless of their ethnic identity. The Youth Initiative also focusses on the fight against hate-speech through education,
and media literacy trainings. Youth and young people are the key focus of all our activities, as we strongly believe that
youth can make a change in Bosnia and Herzegovina and globally.
