In 1969, affected parents founded the association "Helfende Hände". Today, the vision is still the same as it was back then: the promotion and care of people with severe multiple disabilities - throughout their lives. Our core mission is to care for and support people with severe multiple disabilities. We take in children, adolescents and adults who require special assistance due to the severity of their disability.

Today, "Helfende Hände" operates the following in the west of Munich

- a school preparation center,
- a private special school and curative day care center for children and adolescents,
- a support center and a residential home for adults,
- a short-term residential facility and
- a practice for occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy.

People learn, live and work together there in a warm, intensive and lively way. Currently, 74 children and adolescents attend the school or curative education day care center, 54 adults live in the residential home, and the support center offers 87 adults a meaningful daily structure. Individual support is supplemented by comprehensive therapy services at all locations. The "Sternstunden Short-Term Residential Home" has six places available in Munich for the temporary admission of severely multiply disabled people of all ages.
