The Social and Cultural Centre, an association under the law of 1901, was created on 9 July 1996. The Association has been an essential part of the social and cultural life of the town of Marck. Its social purpose is "to fight against all forms of exclusion, to promote social and professional integration and to offer the possibility to the population as a whole to be actors in their own lives; to be active and responsible citizens of a dynamic community; to access and extend culture and to promote the fulfillment" of the inhabitants of Marck. As part of the popular education movement, the social centres base their action and their public expression on three founding values: Human dignity, Solidarity, Democracy.
The social centres contribute to better living together, to the development of parents and children, by strengthening the links within families and the relationships of solidarity between inhabitants. Support neighbourhood solidarity and encourage the development of new collective initiatives to promote the family economy. Support local social solidarity economy initiatives to meet the challenges of inequality at the city level. To promote the power of action of the inhabitants in the proximity and to encourage collective initiatives that develop the mobility of the inhabitants.In this respect the COUSTEAU Centre is a place of resources and social activity open to all inhabitants without distinction, with particular attention to amilies and vulnerable groups.
