Description de l'organisation

The organization ONE WORLD NETWORK was established at the beginning of 2005. We are located in the town of Struga, North Macedonia. The purpose behind setting up the organization was to unite young people from differing circumstances and guide them on their path to making themselves be of value to the local community. The founders, young people themselves, started the organization with the idea to foster interculturality and international cooperation between young people so that their voices may be heard.
The majority of the One World Network members are students in secondary and higher education. We have around 40 members, of which 24 university students. Currently, One World Network (OWN) has only part-time staff with the majority of the work being done on a voluntary basis.
OWN has been cooperating with youth organisations in North Macedonia and abroad, in particular the EEC region, the European Union and central and eastern Europe.
Nationwide, we work individually and we also cooperate with different organisations to promote national programs. A part of the National strategy for youth in Macedonia is the promotion of active participation of young people and building the capacities of the civic sector. In that effect, OWN strives to engage young people to become active citizens and to adopt EU values. In order to ensure that our work will be sustainable and impactful, we rely on open communication and mutual cooperation with the local community, with the authorities and all stakeholders related to our activities and their results.
The objectives of OWN are to set the basis for active citizenship among young people from the local community and beyond, to create strong links between the social actors and the authorities to lead to the improvement of life for all.
Our mission is to:
- motivate young people to participate in our regular activities helping them to develop their skills, soft or hard, through non-formal education resting on the principle of lifelong learning;
- provide young people with the means to develop concepts into social projects to improve their community;
- assume an active role in the decision-making processes in their communities and ensure that their voices will be heard.
Our main activities so far include youth mobility and youth workers mobility, seminars, workshops, cultural gatherings, debates, discussion groups, and similar activities for young people as their target audience. The target group of OWN is young people aged 15-35. The organisation is open to all young people. To make an impact that will benefit all young people and the community in general, we always try to involve youngsters from vulnerable backgrounds such as severe economic conditions, Roma youth, educational difficulties, rural areas, cultural differences.
