Descripción de la organización:
The Good Kitchen APS started its activity as a community kitchen in July 2021 and turned into an APS (Association for Social Promotion) in October 2021. The idea of creating a community kitchen starts from the long lasting experience of its legal representative, Danny McCubbin, who has a vast experience in cooking, volunteering and running community based food projectts. The Good Kitchen APS’ main target group is people in need, people who are in food poverty, children and youngsters. Elderly people also visits the kitchen for company and social inclusion. The organization is open for families and individuals who wants to share and being involved in an actual volunteering action addressed to the whole local community, through volunteering and also attending or taking part in events and activities. The aim of the organization is to foster social inclusion through cooking activities and the reduction of food waste. Young people learn valuable cooking skills with many of them wanting to be chefs and with a particular focus on social inclusion. The kitchen was established in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization provided more than 250 meals for people in isolation that didn’t have a support network for collecting groceries or food. During its first year of activity, the organization, based on voluntary efforts from families and individuals, gave also the opportunity to Ukrainian refugees come to Mussomeli to find “a shelter in the storm” and to get included
