La Cocotte Solidaire is a non-profit organization fostering social connections through communal cooking and shared meals. As a participatory neighbourhood canteen, it provides a space for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together, cook, and enjoy home-like meals made with organic ingredients sourced from local farms.
Daily, La Cocotte Solidaire prepares a varied dish with ten beneficiaries, shared among a maximum of 40 individuals. Ensuring inclusivity, a suggested price of 9 euros is implemented, allowing participants to contribute any comfortable or feasible amount. This approach promotes social diversity and enhances accessibility to a broader audience.
La Cocotte Solidaire, founded in 2018, is a response to the need for solidarity, diversity, and inclusion in the community. Initiated through the "15 places to reinvent" program supported by the City of Nantes and Nantes Métropole, four friends, aware of the lack of a dedicated space for social interaction, established it to combat urban isolation and anonymity. The organization's primary focus is strengthening community life through local initiatives, with cooking and sharing meals serving as their answer.
Post-pandemic, La Cocotte Solidaire has resumed diverse events like workshops, recycling initiatives, singing sessions, and more. Tailored to our beneficiaries' interests, these activities directly address social exclusion, fostering an inclusive space for connection, learning, and growth.
