Description of organisation

The Autonomous Province of Bolzano Bozen – South Tyrol is the northernmost province of Italy, with a population that speaks German, Italian, and Ladin. Through Provincial Law 13/1983, the local government has recognized youth work as an independent area within the education and training system. This recognition aims to ensure comprehensive cultural and social education, as well as successful socialization of young people. The law establishes a framework to support youth work facilities and projects through financial grants and organizational assistance. In 2018, the Program for the Promotion of Youth Work was launched, with the goal of continuing to enhance the qualification and internationalization of youth work. International youth work is viewed as an opportunity for shared experiences and learning, making a significant contribution to the personal development and peace education of young individuals. Today, we witness a thriving network of youth clubs and organizations, employing over 300 full-time staff and benefiting from the dedication of thousands of volunteers. The focus on youth work qualification, promotion of voluntary commitment, expansion of associational and open youth work, and planned further development of youth information and counseling have shaped the landscape of South Tyrolean youth work over the past decades, strengthening its network.
