Founded in 2012, ANGES - Associação Nacional de Gerontologia Social (National Association of Social Gerontology) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting active and successful aging.
ANGES’s main objectives include improving the well-being of the elderly, fostering solidarity between generations, and equipping youth and professionals with the skills to promote inclusive communities. The association actively engages in educational and cultural projects that promote social cohesion and enhance the integration of older generations into society.
Key activities include training for professionals in the social sector, workshops on leadership and conflict resolution, and the organization of intergenerational projects that bring together the elderly and youth. One of our flagship initiatives is the Ageing Congress, an annual event that brings together experts to discuss best practices for active aging. We also conduct free workshops for community members on topics such as mental health and communication skills, aimed at supporting both the elderly and youth.
Our target groups are older adults, particularly those at risk of social isolation, and young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities. ANGES fosters intergenerational cooperation as a means to enhance personal development, inclusion, and community well-being.
